John Isner has defeated Nicholas Mahaut in an 11 hour 5 minute marathon match. The 5th set was 138 games long. There are no words to put this into perspective. There will most definitely never be a match as long as this.

Italy eliminated from World Cup!

Paraguay and Slovakia have moved on after an incredible finish to another game. Italy just did not deserve to move on after the way they played throughout the tournament. Slovakia wins 3-2 after a frantic finish. This is a must see finish to a game. Italy almost equalizes late to move on, but it was to little to late.

This match at 62 to 62 in the 5th set is impossible to stop watching. How they have kept their concentration is incredible. Over ten hours of tennis. I like tennis, but I am a huge soccer fan. Never thought I would change the channel from the world cup, but this is history. There is not much that could compare to this marathon. These service gamnes are being held pretty easily at the moment. As I write this it is now 63 to 63 in the 5th set. Will continue to update.

De La Hoya Gets Destroyed in a Sad Display

Manny Pacquiao totally dominated Oscar De La Hoya from the opening bell. It was very sad to watch a legend like Oscar get embarrassed. In my opinion they should have stopped the fight earlier then they did. Manny Pacquiao could land at will. De La Hoya was not getting off at all and just took punishment the entire fight. De La Hoya as a business man should have known better than to take this fight. Pacquiao was the younger, stronger, and faster fighter. For a reason only Oscar can answer he came in weighing less than Pacquiao. This was a toal domination and a wast of my money to watch. I think it is time for Oscar De La Hoya to retire.

Patriots Throttle Cowboys

All though it was closer than the score said I must admit my Cowboys got beaten up. Oh well you live and learn right. Hopefully they will get better from this. If they could play in the first quarter ever maybe we wouldn't be having this conversation. It takes them so long to get going on offense. Once they do it is usually lights out, but can't do that against the Patriots. They come to play every single quarter. As a Cowboys fan I am still happy with the season so far. They have played very well. The defense is better than people give them credit for, if you were on the field as much as they were yesterday you would be tired too. Anyway Go Cowboys!

Red Sox vs Indians

What a first game for the Red Sox. Such patience at the plate making Sabathia throw way too many pitches. They are doing the same thing to Carmona tonight, so far it is 4 to 3 Indians because Schilling just gave up a thre run homer. If they keep playing the way they are they should get back in this game. Manny and Big Papi have been lights out, so far in the playoffs. I am looking for a Rockies vs Red Sox World Series and hopefully they can slow down the Rockies.

Arizona Fans Are Ridiculous

Anytime people start throwing stuff on the the field it is an embarrassment. I am glad the Rockies left the field. Whether they thought the call was right or wrong it gives them no right to put players in harms way. I hope the Arizona fans pointed out the people doing it and they don't get to come back. They do not deserve to go to another game. Thats just my opinion I welcome yours.

Joe Torre's Reign As Yankees Manager Likely Done

The New York Yankees ran into a tough Cleveland team and lost the series. I am not a Yankees fan , but I can tell you I am a Joe Torre fan. I really think this is too bad. He has done so much for this franchise. Don't get me wrong in past years he would have been gone years ago. Steinbrenner has softened a little over the years as he has gotten older. I think he will make a big mistake and will lose players because of this move. He took this team which played terrible at the beginning of the season and almost won the division. Time will only tell, but I think this is a mistake.

Cowboys Luckily Pull Out The Game

It should have never happened, but that should describe the Buffalo season. They blow an 11 point lead in 20 seconds. Don't get me wrong I am happy. Dallas kicker Nick Folk is the real deal and he got the job done. Bailed out Tony Romo. What a terrible game he played. Play like that against the Patriots and it will be scary. The Cowboys are 5-0 now because of some clutch play though. What an onside kick by Folk also and Sam Hurd made a great play on it. Poor Buffalo that is a bad bad loss. Tough to bounce back from. Nightmare Start for Tony Romo and The Cowboys

Tony Romo throws four picks in the first half. First time anyone has done that since 2005. He has overthrown every receiver he has thrown to. Defense is holding up though. Cowboys kick a field goal and are only down 17-10. Not bad with the offensive half they had. Hopefully a better second half. Cowboys fan here by the way. Trent Edwards looks very good for Buffalo though maybe there new starter.

Panther fans how do you feel about David Carr as your new starting quarterback. Forget about yesterday and think back to his Texan days. Matt Shaub is playing pretty well compared to Carr. If your not very good your not very good. Look at Joey Harrington he could go just about anywhere and not be the quarterback people thought he was going to be. Too bad about Delhomme. Looks like he doesn't have much left in him. Too many injuries. Have fun with David Carr. Luckily he does have Steve Smith who makes guys look good. Tell me hwat you think Panther fans.

College Football Top 25

What is going on in college football these days. Is it the competition getting better, or teams not being prepared. Its not like Stanford had won many games this year before USC. Every week these teams are going by the wayside. What is all about. At least I still have Boston College because Notre Dame is terrible. They couldn't score a touchdown against a pee wee team. Who is going to win it all this year? LSU is the obvious choice, but they do not look that great either. Teams are playing very normal, so if you happen to read this please tell me who will win it all. I have no idea.

Boston Red Sox Vs. New York Yankees Game 1

For some reason I am still awake watching the Red Sox, Yankees game with the Yankees in the lead 9 to 3 in the 8th. Of course what keeps me awake is always the possibility of my Red Sox coming back and winning. Everytime I go to bed early they storm back, so maybe I should go to bed. Anyway Torre gets ejected with a 9 to 3 lead. You would he would have saved it for one of there losses to try to motivate them somehow. Don't get me wrong I am a Yankee hater and love to see them 13.5 games behind. I do in some way feel bad for Joe Torre as he will be the fall guy if this continues. You know years ago Steinbrenner would have fired him a long time ago. I guess he has chilled out a little bit in his old age. Well anyway this game is going on forever past the 3 hour mark in the top of the 8th. Hopefully it ends soon, so we can move on to tomorrow. See you all soon.

Come on doesn't everyone remember that there was no way he would leave LSU. He kept saying it day after day. Where did he end up? Miami of course. Here we are again he kept telling everyone including his players he wasn't going anywhere. Now he is the head coach of Alabama. I don't know how you could ever trust this guy again. I wouldn't want him as my coach. He wants to run the entire programs amd wehn the going gets tough he gets going. I feel bad for the Dolphins if they only knew what they were getting. They lost a second and sixth round pick on two quarterbacks that they are not sure if they can play. They have a defense that is getting older. Wow what a job Nick Saban did there. Please when he is sick of Alabama do not give hime another chance.

Boise State beats Oklahoma

Boise State has done it! A mid major as they are called for no particular reason has neaten a powerhouse. They are 13-0 and have no chance at a national title. Am I missing something? Oh yeah a playoff system. Just thought I would mention it again. USC blows out Michigan the team everyone said should be in the national title game. It was a great overtime game where there was a proposal right after the win. He ran through the crowd and proposed to his cheerleader girlfriend. What a feel good story.

Darrent Williams of the Denver Broncos Shot and Killed

In s senseless act of violence Darrent Williams cornerback for the Denver Broncos was shot and killed leaving a night club. There are not many details being released, but I just pray this had nothing to the game. It is bad enough he was a victom of a drive by, but if it is because they did not make the playoffs it would be even more disgusting. Especially since he was one of the better players on the field as usual. Led the team in tackles and forced a fumble. This is a sad day for the NFL and may he rest in peace.

Dallas Cowboys Lose to the Lowly Detroit Lions

The Cowboys have lost another home game. That makes three in a row. It is never good to back into the playoffs. They couldn't stop anyone even if they new the play they were running. Not to mention all the turnovers to keep your defense on the field. Don't get me wrong I think Tony Romo is the guy to be the Dallas Cowboys quarterback for years to come, but he has to take care of the ball. The ball just falls out of his hand without even being touched. Now they head to Seattle. Maybe they will fair better on the road. I hope so.

A couple of other notes. Cincinnati lost to Pittsburgh to knock themselves out of the playoffs. What a collapse that was also. The feel good story of Vince Young and the Tennessee Titans comes to an end as they lose to New England. This has been a great season of close games and division races. I just hope it continues into the playoffs.

When Will Monday Night Football Get Rid of Tony Kornheiser

Wow is he terrible. Whenever someone tries ti make a point he jumps in with a joke. Almost as bad as Dennis Miller and I like Dennis Miller. He is out of his element. It never seems he knows what he is talking about. Asking questions all the time. I hope when Tiki Barber retires this year that they will hire him to take over. At least he will have a clue what he is talking about. Send Kornheiser back to PTI full time, which Wilbon carries that show also. Sorry it just had to be said. I can not stand listening to him and I like most espn guys. I think they are pretty entertaining. Turico and Theismann do a nice job. What a Sad Life Mike Tyson Leads As He is Arrested Again

Once upon a time Mike Tyson was the most feared boxer in the world. I must say I admired how he just took people apart. Now look at him he is a circus show. When will he bite someones ear off, get in a brawl, or get arrested. Not bad enough that he is driving drunk, but also has cocaine in the car with him. He was by himself, so no one can take the blame for him. He is bankrupt and wants to fight a woman on his world tour. He has become a monster who belongs in jail in the psych ward. Nobody wants to see him fight second rate fighters on his world tour. They all just want to see you go away.

Mike Fratello Gets the boot after 6-24 Start

After deciding to go with the youth movement during the summer they decide to give Fratello the boot. Not to mention Gasol there best player missed most of the season. I look at there roster and don't think there were many coaches who would have done much. This is Jerry West though and he is supposed to be a genius. Who will he pull out of the hat to right the ship. It was Fratello who took over for Hubie Brown and took them to back to back playoff appearances. Not good enough to give him a second chance, but West did say that Fratello is a good friend. Well I am sure we will see Fratello back in the announcing booth soon enough. He will not go without a job for long.

College Bowl Season

We are about to get full swing into bowl season. I can't wait there a lot of great games this year. Like where was that Florida State team that played last night all season. I can't wait for the Notre Dame and Boston College games. Those are my teams, but in all seriousness there needs to be a playoff. Now I know there never will be because the bowl games make to much money, but come on lets give these kids a real championship. God forbid Ohio State lost and Michigan won. All the one loss teams will be crying. Rightfully so because I do not think it will be won on the field. Florida never played Michigan, so who is the better team. I actually hope Ohio State wins even though I do not like them. That way we will have one National Champion. Well that's my thoughts for the day. Feel free to leave comments.

Well it’s been an interesting weekend I ran a 5K this weekend and came in about the middle of the pack on a cool sunny day.
But the real news was my football teams had a good weekend. Notre Dame knocked off Purdue 35-21 after last weeks lost. It was a nice to see them turn things around and play a very solid game. Next week they play Stanford and then UCLA both games are at home.
The Dallas Cowboys win big against the Titans 45-14 after a long week of being in the news about Terrell Owens and who knows what it was all about and will we ever know.
He had a good game a week after surgery on his hand with 5 receptions for 88 yards. But the news of the game was Terry Glen 54 receiving and 22 yards rushing and 2 TD’s.
I have to say that the NFL has had a lot of very close games so far this year. Just look at the box scores for this weeks games. As I write this Washington just beat Jacksonville 36-30 in overtime. Out of the 12 games played at this time 8 have been within 6 points that has made for a lot of excitement.

Another week of the chase and it has mixed things up again and a interesting finish in Kansas. Talk about gas management with Tony Stewart taking the checked flag out of gas and still winning. He’s out of the chase but still in the running for the million dollars. Jeff Burton leads the chase over Denny Hamlin by 69 points and Mark Martin 70 in third.
Jeff Gordon was the big loser today and he dropped 4 spots to 6 and 120 points back.

Next year in Nascar there will be some changes in the car for some races and the introduction of Toyota. The new car is being called the car of tomorrow and it is being tested this year. Next year it will run in 16 of the 36 races on selected tracks.
The entry of Toyota into Nascar is also big news and a lot of money going to be dropped into racing. I have added a picture of the new Toyota for the 2007 season.

Where Did Those Houston Astros Come From Again

The Houston Astros are trying to do it again. Can you imaging they are only behind the Cardinals by a half of a game. Now yes it took the Cardinals to colapse, but we write this Astros team off every year and they make a big run. Imagine if these Houston Astros could ever play a first half of a year. They would win divisions going away. I think they like these close races. Makes for great television. Not that anyone has shown a game from this race. As compelling as this race has been we have to wait for highlights, or just the box score. I can't believe that ESPN can not make room for one of these games. Oh well at least there is a great race going on. Just wish I could see it.

This weekend in sports on 9-24-06

Hey I watched the Notre Dame last night into the 4 quarter and said it’s time to go to bed. As I headed off I said to myself and my poor wife who had to listen to me complain all night what are they doing. What are they thinking is this the team who was predicted number one in preseason polls. Is this the Notre Dame that I wait to watch every weekend. I wake up this morning to find out they won and the final was 40-37 and a very good ending. Oh well to be honest I was tired and had to be up early this morning to run.
So I’m very happy that they pulled it out but they have me worried.

My other college team the BC Eagles after going 3-0 lost to NC State 17-15 this week and they will be playing my state college Maine next week. The university of Maine 2-1 will travel to BC 3-1 for one of there biggest games of the year. Maine just came off of a 62-12 win over Shaw.

Cincinnati Bengal’s 3-0 beat the Pittsburg Steelers 1-2 today 28-20.
The Dallas cowboys had a bye this week and the news is that Terrell Owens may not miss any games. Time will tell about that!

Jeff Burton took the lead of the Nascar cup chase at Dover today. He leads Matt Kenseth and Danny Hamlinby 18 points. After Matt ran out of gas with two laps to go. Jeff Gordon moves up two spots into second 6 points back of Burton. The next stop for the cup cars is Kansas and last years winner is Mark Martin the only drive now without a win this year.

Nascar racing

This weekend the races are in Dover for some high banking racing in the chase to the cup? It will be interesting to see how things will unfold for the 24 team and if they can continue the top for another championship. My predictions for the top five for the chase are Gordon, Kenseth, Harvick, Earnhardt jr and Johnson. What are your thoughts on this?

They are testing for the new cars that they will run in 2007 and 2008. They are on the restrictor plate’s tracks to see if they will still need to us them on the new cars.

Well let’s hope the weather will co-operate with us this weekend it’s raining here in Maine today.

Mets clinch the National league eastern division title. It’s been 18 years of frustration to get to this point. Of course the best part is they did it at home and that’s always a plus out front of the home crowd.
Now they continue to play and stay in shape and mindset for the playoffs, it will be a tuff road.
I watched the Monday night football game last and I must say the Jaguars really took it to Pittsburgh but I found the game boring. I guess they did score after I went to bed and that’s good. But it ended up being one of the lowest scores for a Monday night football game.
Ben Roethlisberger should have stayed out another week. As he left the field at the end of the game he was like a wounded duck. He took to many hits and told the coaches he would be ok which he wasn’t.

Sports roundup for weekend of 17 and 18

Yesterday was a very nice day at Loudon New Hampshire for the first race to the chase in Nascar. It was warm and we did a lot of walking around the trailers and the track but it was fun. It was very sunny and we could not pick up a cloud all day.
When we go in the summer, which was much hotter this year then yesterday, we go with the whole family. We cook and play games and chat it is a good time and we not leave until 8pm.Yesterday the traffic starting moving around 6:30 and we tried to head out. Which took us some time to hit the main road about 45 minutes.
Its unreal how many people go racing and how much money people spend on a race weekend. When you go around those trailers where they sell items from all the different drivers you cannot hardly make it through that area there are so many people$$$
.
I thought it was a good race even thought Harvick pretty much ran away from the pack leading 196 laps. Early on I thought he was done for when he tried to spit two cars to get by them. But he made it and could not be caught after that. The top five where: Harvick, Stewart, Gordon, Hamlin and Vickers.
I guess there were some issues after the race on his car and his teammates car going through post race checks. But they were given warnings and told it better not happen again. So it was a good start for this Childress team in the chase but we still have nine more races to go.
Unlike the Hendrix team which had two cars that were in the bottom of the standings at the end of the day. Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch could not catch and were pretty much out of it early.
Next weeks race #2 will be at Dover and we will see what happens to the standings at that point.

Well here in Portland Maine there is big news in Sports the Red Sox affiliate has won the eastern league baseball championship. It was a five game series and the dogs won in the fifth and deciding game to beat Akron by a score of 8-5…..Good job Sea Dogs!!!! Are these players the future of the Sox maybe if they don’t trade them away?

Dallas cowboys were 27-10 winners over Washington but lost Terrell Owens for 3 to 4 weeks. At least this comes as the cowboys go into a bye week.

Red Sox take the 3 out of 4 from the Yankees but not much hope for playoffs. They took two on Sunday, which has not happen in thirty years. Magic number for the Yankees is 3 and they will not reach that number while their playing the Sox this year.

Sox vs Yanks and Notre Dame football and tidbits about nascar

Well this could have been a big series between the Red Sox and Yankees but it is just another series to finish out the season. It is bigger for Red Sox so they can finish the season on a positive note. The Yankees are on a roll now they will finish with the division.

The New York Mets are coasting into the playoffs with this big lead let’s hope they can continue playing this way throughout the post season. I hope they can win the world series but I think it’s going to the American league this year. They seem to be very strong!

Notre Dame football takes a humbling lost to Michigan today for there first lost of the season 47-21 ouch!!!

Tomorrow is the first race for the chase in Nascar and I’m hoping the Jeff Gordon will get another championship. The year that they changed the format he would have won another championship again under the old format. But this has added some excitement to Nascar and we will see what happens now. I do think that they need to adjust it a little and they need to give more points for a win. When you have a driver with 5 wins in eleven place and having to drive his way into the chase. There is something just wrong with that! Let alone that Tony Stewart is sitting on the outside looking in and last year Jeff Gordon and Earnhardt jr missed it.
Harvick wins pole and is on a roll this year.

Drew Bledsoe Throws Away Game For Cowboys

I am a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, but Drew Bledsoe with his the interceptions threw the game away. For some reason he could not read coverage at all in the second half. I like Drew Bledsoe, but with all of those weapons he needs to do better. Don't get me wrong Fred Taylor and Byron Leftwich played a great game in the second half, but the Cowboys should have won that game. I hope he gets going next week, or we might have the Tony Romo rumblings. We have already heard them during the preseason. He had a very good preseason, but we nee Drew Bledsoe to come alive. Lead this team please.

Hey I spent the day working around the house today it was warm and I needed to do some work. But I did get a chance to watch some college football in between the work. I really enjoyed the way Notre Dame handled Penn St. and the Boston College game went into 2 OT wow that was a good finish!!
As I’m writing the NASCAR race is going on and I’m hoping that we will not lose a any good drivers out of the chase for the championship. Something has to be done in NASCAR so that winning is worth more points. We cannot have so many drivers out of the chase. Right now my driver the 24 Jeff Gordon is in 9th place for the chase as the race goes on.

The women’s tennis finals are over and Maria Sharapovia is the winner over Justine Henin-Hardenne to win the U.S. Open for her second majors.
The men’s are tomorrow and can Roddick beat Federer maybe with his new coach Jim Connors but I don’t think so.
The NFL starts for real tomorrow and I hope to catch a few more games what about you?

My Son Starts Soccer Again Tomorrow

I can't wait. This is his second year and I love to watch as they grow. He loves it also and he can't wait either. He gets to do something that dad does. I do not coach him because I do not want to pressure him. I would want everything perfect and that is not fair to him. He is only 6 years old, but being the proud father I think he is pretty good. Now if my father would stop encourging him to be a goalie I would be happy. He should be a midfielder, or a striker. I'm just kidding it doesn't matter as long as he is having fun. Because I know I will be having fun watching.

Football is back! Now I am watching the game right now and it is only the second quarter. Charlie Batch actually threw a touchdown pass. I couldn't believe it. Its a 7-0 game right now. Not the most well played game right now. Maybe if some of these athletes practiced in pads and played in preseason games these games would be more crisp. You can't go a whole offseason without getting hit and have great games to start the season. Don't get me wrong I am happy football is back. I just think they need to stop babying the stars of the game.

Now the Red Sox Can't Score Runs

In a series where the Red Sox won two out of three they scored four runs. That is not going to get it done. With there depleted pitching staff being the only thing that kept them in the first two games. The bats need to come alive. They have there whole lineup back. This is just not the year for the Red Sox. They had a chance earlier in the season to put these teams away and the couldn't. Now they do have some games with the teams ahead of them left. If they have any chance they need to start tearing the ball like they did most of the season. This is sad for me to watch. Please at least be the spoiler. Knock someone out of the playoffs. They are too good to go out playing terrible. God Bless Jon Lester and may the cancer go away quickly.

Baseball is Alive and Well

All that stuff my father just wrote about baseball is junk. Baseball is still America's pastime. The younger players like Ryan Howard are steooing it up in the clutch. There are a bunch of teams in the NL within two games of each other for the wild card. No there are not a ton of races wide open in AL, but the better teams. My Red Sox have been buried may they rest in peace, but they are playing spoiler now that they have most of there team back. Beat the White Sox two straight. I can't wait for the stretch run and then the playoffs. I will agree I can't wait for football and its great the college season has started. Lots of baseball left to watch. Who will be the World Champions. Who knows at this point, but can't wait to watch.

Baseball coming to an end thank god!

You know one of the sports that I’m not much of a fan is baseball my son is a big baseball but it’s to slow for me. I do like it when the Red Sox beat the Yankees but it’s only because I like to see New England teams do well. I must admit I do hate the Yankees and there money. The funny thing is that I have been a Mets fan for years and went into hiding for a long time. I came out last year again because like the other two team I just discussed they went out to buy a team. This year it looks like they’re on their way to a national league division championship. I must admit also that if I were to watch baseball I would rather watch the national league, because of the style of play. Can they beat the American league don’t think so. The American league seems to be so much stronger and they should run away with it. The season is almost over and we can move onto the World Series and the end of baseball for another season.

But next Thursday is the beginning of a sport that I really enjoy the NFL. It will have a big kickoff before the game with music and all kinds of entertainment to start the season off. Then the Pittsburg steelers will face the Miami dolphins and let the fun begin.
The weeks will be filled with pro and college games.

You should take the time to go to a high school or college game in your area where the sport is still played for the love of the game.

New to blogging but not to sports

This is the first time that I move into the world of blogging. I have read a few blogs but its all new to me. It was interesting to read how they got started and how people have develop a knack for talking about their everyday lives and interest and sharing with millions of other people. They sit there at their computers somewhere on this planet and let everyone know a little piece of them or their family. They even include pictures of what they are talking about and us as readers find out what their lives and interest are made up of.

With this said my son started this blog to talk about sports and i'm hoping to contribute from time to time. We have had many discussions about a lot of things about sports over the years and do not always agree. But that is what sports is all about having different idea and teams.
I have been interested in sports most of my life from the NFL NBA NHL NASCAR and college and high school sports. The two of us agree on most of the teams and he is more into baseball then I am. He is an adved Red Sox fan and i'm a Mets fan. I'm a Jeff Gordan fan and he's a Tony Steward fan to give you some idea of the differences.

I have coached youth sports for over 30 years and I've also coached high school for 15 years. I have three kids and they played sports growing up and in high school. They have learned a lot from sports and my two sons still play soccer and on the same team. One of my sons is a High school varsity soccer coach and the other son got to help in preseason this year and really would like to coach at some point. My daughter played high school soccer and two years of college soccer.
So you see we have a lot of experience in sports in all levels

Michael Bush Has His Season Ended

Anybody who watched the Louisville at Kentucky football game knows that one of the best college football players in the land broke his leg. He was a possible Heisman trophy winner. Michael Bush scored 24 touchdowns last year and said he would score 30 this year. He is a senior and probably no longer a first round draft pick unless someone takes a chance on him. That is too bad. I personally think Brady Quinn will win the heisman trophy. Even after the slow start in the first game of the season. What a talent this kid is. Breaking all those records last year and he is such a calm kid. He will make a great NFL quarterback i believe. Well anyway a lot of great players this year only time will tell.

The Race To The Chase For The Nextel Cup

Wow what a chase it has been this year. With Kasey Kahne winning yesterday only 104 points seperate fourth to eleventh going in to the final race before the chase at Richmond. Jeff Gordon is in fourth and is still not safe. All the people who complain about the chase should stop. It is very exciting. Matt Kenseth is now the championship leader by I think nine points. It has been a great season and can't wait for the chase. Oh wait I can not stop without mentioning my favorite driver Tony Stewart who is holding on for dear life. Right now he is in by forty five points. He is the defending champion and each week I pray he gets in. He would have been a lock had he not hurt his shoulder, but oh well hopefully he gets in. Kasey Kahne made it very interesting with his win. Now we will have to wait for Richmond next week.

Officially College Football Season

It is officially college football season as my favorite team gives me a scare. Notre Dame just kept letting Georgia Tech stay in the football game. Don't get me wrong Chan Gailey and his staff had a great gameplan coming in. Notre Dame on the other hand was not ready for it. It scared me a little bit that when you take the screen play away they become ordinary. I mean hopefully this was just first game jitters. Not many great games yesterday. What is wrong with that Colorado
program. Now they lose there opener to Montana State. This is a division 1AA program not division 1. That is not good. Well hopefully Notre Dame comes to play against Penn State.

Wow Red Sox Pitching

The first time the Boston Red Sox have given up 12 or more runs in three straight games in franchise history. That is a great record to break huh. Right now it looks like the Yankees just want it more than the Red Sox do. It is sad to watch these games. Could it be a Subway Series this year? Who knows both are playing really well. I think the AL is too deep for the NL this year, but the NL can pitch. What a run to the end these wild card positions are going to be. With how hot the Twins and White Sox have been. You know this is the Red Sox fault. They had a chance to put all these teams away and the didn't. Its just too bad.

Well anyway we found out TO will not play this Monday because Parcells says he needs more practice. Is this the trouble everyone is waiting for or is this Parcells taking over. I think Parcells is just putting him in line and I like it. Time will tell.

Preseason Football

I think it is funny to watch players like Jeremy Shockey argue call during the television break. Get over it. It is preseason. You are there to get ready for the season. The Giants looked pretty good. The Chiefs looked terrible. Hope that is not a sign of there season to come. No offense at all. well maybe thats just a Herman Edwards thing. No points with the Jets either. Can't wait for the regular seaon. It is quickly coming apon us. Bring it on.

On another note the Red Sox are getting blown out by the Yankee's in the first game of a day night doubleheader. Hinske has three doubles in his debut with the Sox so far though. That is a good sign to have another left handed batter who can play multiple position. Anyway hopefully the rest of the day will go better.

I am Back

After helping my brother with tryouts for a couple of days I am back. It was a lot of fun. I love soccer. Anyway TO was back on the field for the Cowboys. That is a good thing. The Red Sox won a game that was a good thing. My baseball team is killing everyone in fantasy sports that was a good thing. Now I just need my Celtics and Bruins to step it up in the coming seasons.

You know whats coming up soon though. My Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Can't wait for the college football season. Jam packed stadiums, the crowds going nuts. What a rush a lot of those games are. Can you go undefeated. Now we just need a playoff system and I will be happy. That won't happen thogh because these college's might lose a little bit of money. Its really too bad.

Soccer tryouts

Sorry I have been away helping my brother with soccer tryouts yesterday and today. I have been having a lot of fun. Like I said before watching the young kids give it all they have is awesome. Well some of the kids anyway. Will be back hopefully tomorrow with some better news on the Sox. They have dropped two straight to Detroit, They need to ge some momentum going into the New York series. Anyway gotta go. Thanks for looking.

Kevin Harvick Wins at the Glen

Kevin Harvick passes my driver Tony Stewart to win at Watkins Glen. What a turn around for Richard Childress Racing this year. With two drivers in the top 5 in standings they can not be happier. Both Kevin Harvick and Jeff Burton are having great seasons. When it comes to the chase I think they will both have great chances. Now Kurt Busch who took a huge strategy chance is in loads of trouble. He is 12th in the points and is not looking good, which will make all the Kurt Busch haters happy. Tony Stewart moved up to 7th Thank God. He has been giving me a scare the last few weeks, but hopefully a strong second will get him going again. Wow is it going to get exciting the next few weeks as the top ten sorts out for the chase. I can't wait to watch.

Fantasy Sports

Who out there plays fantasy sports? I do. Not very well, but I play free fantasy sports against friends and family on yahoo. I am in first place in my baseball league, but I am sure that will not last. I have gone through life with people telling me how much I know about sports and I can't play fantasy sports to save my life. Maybe my luck is changing. Maybe I am just paying more attention. I personally think a lot of it is luck. Getting a high draft position. I will probably get the 8th out of 10 teams in my football league. Thats usually how it goes. Does anyone else have draft woes? Not everyone can get Larry Johnson if you know what I mean.

Manny Extends Hit Streak To 27 Games

It took him till the 10th inning, but Manny extended his hitting streak to 27 games. The Red Sox pulled another one and a good thing to keep pace with the Yankees. Just a short one for now because I just watched it happen. Will be back later with someting other than Red Sox.

Manny Ramirez extends his hit streak to 26 games and more importantly the Red Sox get the 9-2 win. Everybody always wants to talk about the bad with Manny, but hitting streaks are also Manny being Manny. I will take all the good he gives over the bad any day. He also knocked in a couple of runs in the win bringing his total to 93 and counting. It will be another 40 homer 100 plus RBI season for Manny.

On another good note David Wells went seven strong innings for the win. Man did the Sox need that. He had the curve ball going tonight. Hopefully this will be the start of a winning streak. Well that all I have right now.

Soccer

This is my first post on soccer and it is my passion. Please do not tune out just because I am talking about soccer. It is a very fun sport to play and watch. If you get to know the game it is very exciting. The most popular sport in the world. The problem for Americans is they think there is not enough goals. Well I think hockey went in the wrong direction. Who wants to watch 8 to 1 and 7 to 2 games. That is boring. There is nothing better than playoff hockey with the hard fought 2 to 1 and 1 to 0 games. That is what soccer is all about. I can't wait for the high school season starts and I can go watch these young kids giving it everything they have to get that 1 goal. There is nothing better.

The Red Sox Are Sinking

Man I wanted to talk about something besides my Red Sox. What a horrible way to and a road trip losing five out of six to the Devil Rays and Royals. Can it get any worse than that. The hated Yankees are going to pull away at this rate. Between no clutch hitting and the bullpen I am not sure which is worse. How many times can you load the bases. I understand injuries, but the Yankees were much worse off in that department for a long time. Come on lets get it going. Thank god we are back in Fenway. Maybe that will jump start the offence. At this rate the Yankees will be out of site and the White Sox will have the wild card. Please give me some hope.

New York Yankees

Yes I hate them, but I guess I must give them some props. All the injuries this team went through, and they are in first place in the AL East. It is amazing. They lost there entire outfield. Of course they just bought another one, but they were already holding there own. Now they have Cano back and the offense is just going to get better. I still believe my Red Sox can catch them, but it will be tough. Joe Torre does not deserve the constant calls for him to be fired every year. With all that said I hope they fade in the end.

How Bout Them Cowboys

I know I am from New England and I am supposed to like the Patriots. Give me a break. I could care less about the Patriots. Anyway I just can't wait to get started. A ton of guys changed teams this year. Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, and Vince Young joined the league. Should be a fun year. Can't wait for my fantasy draft. Where are all the Cowboys haters at. Big Papi for MVP

As I watch my Red Sox play today I want to make my claim for Big Papi for MVP. With one catch. He doesn't play first base anymore. Yes I think a DH can win the mvp award. Especially with all the big hits in the late innings. There are months at a time he can carry them on his back. Don't get me wrong Manny being behind him in the line up is a big reason for his success. Then he plays first and costs them four runs by keeping the inning going with the error. MVP MVP MVP! Just please don't play first base.

Steroids

What are everyone's thoughts on steroids these days. I know I am sick of hearing about it. Did Barry Bonds take performance enhancing drugs? Probably. Will we ever prove it? Probably not. So lets move on to more important things. Like the pennant races going on. The dreaded Yankees just passed my Red Sox for first place in the AL East. The Mets and Tigers are running away with there divisions. Who would have ever thought it. The Cubs as usual are falling apart. Baseball is a great sport. Lets think about the positive. Just so you all know though Barry Bonds is a hall of famer whether you like it or not.
